Same situation here too. My husband came to this country in 1999. Filed for greencard in 2004. Labor was sent to philly BEC and it got cleared in September 2007 so we too missed the window too. Not sure what to do

What you say sounds very selfish and narrow-minded.
When I made my first contribution to IV, I was stuck in BEC-hole and clearing out BEC was my top priority but not the top priority issue IVs list. I still believed in the big common goal and believed in the IV team.
You say that you don't see any benefit from IV's goals and so you wont contribute. IV's top priority is to bring relief through legislative solutions to retrogression. Can you tell me that eliminating retrogression will not benefit CP filers? If not, then what's the excuse of your bunch to not contribute?
If you still want to stick with the above "Oh it does not directly benefit me, a CP filer, because it does not massage my foot and make me feel good" rhetoric, then hey since I'm interested only in 485, I'd have to say that not a single cent of my contribution should go towards anything other than 485.
If every 485 filer were to get that selfish and said that, it would leave out this small pool of CP filer contributions (if any) which does not cover the costs of even arming up for your proposed cause. Now, where do you want to go from here?

You can revnew your GC after an intial period of 10 years. You are at your free will and wish to remain on your GC. You will be eligible for Naturalization after 5 years. That does not mean that you have to use that oppurtunity.
Now to the original question of this thread.
It is highly recommended that one must stay with the original sponsoring company for atleast 6 months after the GC is approved. If you leave the company in good terms with them or rather if they do not create any fuss, then you are safe.
Say in my case, my original employer laid me off and I ported my process with AC21 to another company, where I am working for 3 yrs and just got my GC approved. I am not obligated to stay with this company as they are not my original sponsor. And again they cannot revoke my GC.
Having said that, the employers can create problems for you, if they decide to hunt you down. But that will not do them any good other than the 'revenge' they may enjoy on you.
My collegue was planning to leave his company after GC approval and his employer cancelled the GC process by withdrawing the application. The USCIS has informed him about this officially to him. He was panicked and was about to start another application and one fine morning, his GC approval came to him through snail mail.

Your most compelling argument of preponing your visa interview is that they have opened slots which were not earlier available and you would like to finish this process and keep some time incase some additional documentation was required, you would have the time to get it. Also, there is NO RULE that says you cannot prepone appointment.
Also, I suggested you get a fresh appointment at Mumbai (your original appointment was in Chennai - correct?)

Only reason I am taking PMP course is because my company provides assistance in fees if its related to my project or helpful to company growth.
I really preferred to do MBA from college instead of PMP but due to company policy had to stick with PMP.

For AP renewal, do I need to send photos by mail again? I thought USCIS uses the picture on file. Folks please correct me if I am wrong. Could some one PM me the letter format?

Yeah right!! buying houses is all hunky-dory when you have all cushy jobs and economy is booming. When economy slows down there will be some people who may lose their jobs with 3000$ mortgages sitting on their head!! And that builder /bank who lobbied for you GC will come knocking on your door asking for payment.
And believe there are defaulters among these highly qualified legal immigrants too!
So again, how did you solve the housing slump problem in the first place???

Greenspan said that the problem is around 200,000 to 300,000 houses. if they are knocked out of the inventory then there will be stablization else the bottom will fall out. now if the immigrant community was united (across national lines) and if we had one organization like IV or someone - who had leverage to talk to builders etc -something along the lines of a union - then this would have made a big difference - but of course the reality is that people get EAD and think their problems have been solved and run to buy a house - the fun part will begin if a recession actually happens

I read somewhere that doctors abroad who do the tests for consular processing cannot be used for AOS medicals.
u'll get RFE only if theres is a mistake in medicals, if there is NO medicals in the 485 packet, i think ur appln will be outright sent back.
whats ur PD, if its in the range of 2000 u still have hope that in next few months ur date becoems eligible for AOS.
ive heard that there are some doctors out there (of questionable integrity) who accept cash and give out medical reports. even tho this is a backdoor approach, u can make a few calls and give it a try. to make ur case more genuine, try to get a list of all attributes recorded in the blood and skin test, and get those done promptly done in india. atleast let the doctor copy over ur wifes actual stats rather than inventing it. If ur case is genuine, may be someone will be merciful to help u out of ur predicament.

last year my friend visited india...he is on 7the year H1, and got 3 yrs extn based on 140. he had attached copy of approved 140 as proof...the chennai visa officer only asked him "is ur company paying for ur GC or you urself" ..he answered Company is paying full amount. and they gave him the visa. :-) if Govt is using approved 140 to give 3 yrs extn, obviously they know the intent to get GC...i dont believe telling truth that ur company is processing GC for you is going to harm you.

Too many people converted to perm-EB2 when EB3 retrogression hit. Also, excess EB2 RoW are not flowing to EB2-India but to EB3 instead.
