It's inevitable with so much unemployment there will be a rise in crime. Best thing to do is to install car security alarms, be wary of strangers and stay away from shady places. Of course can't help if you live in the deep south or the crime ridden NJ area. You are unfortunately a victim of your richer brethren of the same color who like to display wealth in their Mercs/Bimmers/Lexuses and who's women look like jewelry store mannequins (minus the stats of course :p) Sad story, can happen to anybody, anywhere

You are not the only one....my application was also sent on July 2nd and I got FP notices (both my wife and I) and AP approved (both my wife and I).
My wife received EAD on 10/22 and so far there has been absolutely no update on my LUD and EAD application is still pending. The service center is Nebraska and I am the primary applicant. I think there a a lot of people in the same boat.
I'm on the same boat and I scheduled an INFOPASS apt and she asked me about biometrics for my I765 and I showed the receipt which I have done for my I485. She immediately responded saying is was for I485 and you need to do one for I765 and then your EAD card will be approved. My bio is scheduled for 01/26.

I just wanted to get this discussion back on track of ppl wanting to be able rise up a little, let their wives work and feel the freedom to make a decision to go back.
Let me restart the discussion. I know we are all frustrated to the extent that we want to pack up and leave but we have invested too much time to do that. But let's assume things start moving and we get our GC's in a year or so. Having spent so many years waiting to "settle" would you be willing to unsettle your life again and start over in a country that you left more than a decade ago.
Note that I am not doubting anyone's intention or disrespecting any entry. Just wondering if its the frustation talking or there are ppl who would actually leave?

My I485 is still pending (> 180 days filed on July27th '07). I have my renewed EAD valid for the next 2 years. I have been out of project for 4 months and my employer , who filed my GC, terminated my health coverage too. Iam using my COBRA option.
Recently, i have applied for a perm position using EAD . I explained to the client about by current status of GC. They wanted to know what they are supposed to do for it. I told them i need to 'invoke' a law called AC21.(pardon my ignorance if iam wrong) inorder to transfer my pending application.
Now the big question is, how do i initiate this whole process?
I really apreaciate all your suggestions.

Thanks lazycis, I mean no disrespect to anyone, just that I find it very difficult to understand some of the ways we all respond towards the events we don't understand. We all simply blame it on God.
And this is the oldest trick in the book of "religious folks". As soon as you question about the twisted belief like "God's protection over this land", some "protecter of God" will throw at you, "people who beleiev in God, will find him". The question is not whether the God exists or not, the question is,
"God's protection over this land"? When we are all children of God, then why would God only protect "only this land". Why not protect other lands where other children of God lives. I think that "God's protection over this land" is a thought from a very inferior mind.
And I find no difference between between "child of God" and "son of God". We are all Sons and Daughters of God, although different religions wants us to believe that their masiah is the "ONLY SON" or "ONLY MESSENGER" of God. And that just too much baloney.
Just like you, I too believe in the existance of God, however, my version of God is not sitting on a lion or a monkey shaped human or tied to a cross or telling us to kill non-believers to go to haven with 72 virgins. I think thats just too pipsqueak depiction of God. I trust that the God is present everywhere but its not what have been described to us by any of the organized religions. And everytime someone throws out some text, like the one Richard Ketchum, I am complelled to voice that its a twisted thought process, which often emanates from the twisted belief system of some organized religion.
Also, Jeffersion, Adams, Franklin and other founding fathers of this nation were all extremely learned because they were all knowledgedable enough to keep the "religion" out of government. Because they knew that most men cannot distinguish between right and wrong when it comes to God, and too often organized religion blinds us by asking us not to question anything.

Thats why, for the things that are too big for us to comprehend, we want to think that there must be a "hand of God", just like that goal scored by Maradona in the finals of the world cup soccor. The immigration issues revolve around the DOL, UCCIS and DOS etc. They should grow and mature, showing efficiency and productivity. For that a new mindset is needed fortified with human resources and budget appropriations. My labor clearance was stuck in SWAs and backlog centers for 3 years. I talked to the SWA officer in charge in my state of CO. He said, this is federal work and there is no money appropriated.
Here is the showcase of how the USCIS works on legal ALIENS(from reliable Ombudsman report):
FBI Namecheck status (pg. 37 of the report)
As of May 2007, USCIS reported a staggering 329,160 FBI name check cases pending, with approximately 64 percent (211,341) of those cases pending more than 90 days and approximately 32 percent (106,738) pending more than one year. While the percentages of long-pending cases compared to last year are similar, the absolute numbers have increased. There are now 93,358 more cases pending the name check than last year. Perhaps most disturbing, there are 31,144 FBI name check cases pending more than 33 months as compared to 21,570 last year – over a 44 percent increase in the number of cases pending more than 33 months.
It is easy to see how border fence, employment verification, Border Control, DOL, FBI, USCIS will TOTALLY fail when you bring in 12 to 20 mil. I see no hope, eihter for anybody. No wonder, many are shouting at the top of their voices voicing strong objection.

My apologies for nitpicking on the DONOR definition and Congratulations on the new management philosophy you are going with. I hope you succeed in your endeavour.
Still I've some open issues. If you look at the poll, there isnt a single person who voted NO. We should expect to see a healthy mix of Yes,No and Dont Care. But the way the poll has been put and partly the wording, partly the current IV environment, people are sceptical of putting their real thoughts publicly. This excercise is futile if you have minimal 'NO's --- hope you are getting my point here. The only thing you might end up with is x number of YES and hope to translate the YES into more dollar value for IV and there will be some YES who are already contributing monetarily.
You are right in saying that we need to increase dollar contributions but tying it to frequent updates is not a practical thing. There are reasons IV Core cannot share their strategical plans with the masses and this is true in most places. By saying donate more and get more updates, we are setting us up for failures esp. if we expect 'real' updates. Even in an ideal situation, you will not have real changes every week and certainly not regularly.
And once again thanks for the healthy discussion.

So what is the general feeling about the Original GC sponsoring Job, Should we continue the Primary Job and Start a company on the sides. In my case
1. I am not on H1B anymore
2. I am already using my EAD with my GC sponsoring employer.
3. My Employer is ok if i leave the company ( i have been with them for 6-7 yrs now and they have made enough from me...fair enough i think)
4. My employer will not revoke the I-140 for sure.
5. My client is ok to work with me if i start my own company.
All the above points make me inclined towards starting a company and work for it, Do you think it is not advisable to change the employer specially in the case when you are starting your own company..

Also, discuss with the new employer and make sure they are ok with supporting you in case of an RFE. From your response, looks like they might know what it is. What I can think of is, consult an attorney and discuss what kinda RFEs you can get that needs employer help (mostly EVL, ability to pay), prepare a sample response letter for both and check with the new employer they are ok with providing them if necessary.

yea i hope USCIS completely cleanses the system and gets things back to the way it was pre - 2000
except for mayb 5% of the bodyshoppers ( i could be wrong as i'm not frm IT , have friends who tell me etc) rest all 95% commit fraud to some degree or the other

Does it mean they would stop processing I140 premium applications which have already been sent. My I140 was pending for 6 months and I changed it for premium after the dates became current, it was sent by my lawyer this Monday (25th) and received by USCIS on 26th. Does this mean it will not be processed or does this mean they will not accept any premium processing applications from July 2nd.
Does it mean they would stop processing I140 premium applications which have already been sent. My I140 was pending for 6 months and I changed it for premium after the dates became current, it was sent by my lawyer this Monday (25th) and received by USCIS on 26th. Does this mean it will not be processed or does this mean they will not accept any premium processing applications from July 2nd.
