If I had my green card today, I would surely be making at least 15K more in my salary per annum repeat per annum.
If not all, many of you are in the similar situation.
My $200 contribution is just 1.33% of that lost opportunity per annum. If I take into consideration the 4 years of wait, it comes to 0.33%.

Nurses are part of EB. This nill has many benefits. More nurses will be out of greencard queue leaving others more chance. US has acute nurses shortage. It is well documented. There is not much shortage of IT professionals . Unemployment is so high. But nurses are in demand and it is important for the healthcare of the nation. Supporting the bill is a win win for everyone in EB wait.

What is your point, Tnite? EAD and AP can filed/issued even if the PD is retrogressed. MY PD was retrogressed after I filed I-485 and EAD and AP were issued?

Next time someone questions IV's efforts, I am going to bluntly ask them if they contributed or came for the advocacy day event. If they did neither, we do not need their 2 cents of free comments.
I would again suggest to go for paid Forum for everyone. Treat desi's like desi's.
Free means one gets all kinds of public answers hindering IV's efforts.

I have a different situation.
My EAD was sent back to USCIS beacuse they forgot to include apt#.
I called USCIS and they rectified the error told me that they will resend it again.
I have got the I765 receipt but not EAD card.
I called them again, they sent me letter saying that they will consider this case as lost in mail beacuse they did not get the returned EAD from poast office.
USCIS sent me a letter asking me to apply again.
DO I need to pay fee for that? It was mistake from USCIS side they have address wrong!

Hello there,
I have been wanting to make an IV contribution for a long time and here is my problem..I probably can be labeled a miseror a magpie! ..Whenever I go to the IV link to contribute and see the $50 or $100 option I panic and get out..yes I do!
I have some desi colleagues and was discussing this issue with them at work..and they had the exact same experience..wow..I am not the only magpie..
But hey is'nt IV the one which is at the receiving end not getting our contributions..
I speak from my own experience and call me a mapie or a miser..or whatever..I cant make myself make a $50 or more contribution .. thats the way I am..But I can sure make a smaller contribution (like a monthly recurring $10 contribution which really is easier to make) and I am quite sure IV will benefit from my small contributions as well as i think a lot more people will not hesitate making contributions in smaller denominations than a whopper $50+
And really this is not related to IV effort but more to do with my own way of thinking about parting with my money..I love my money..:)...

In essence, it would seem like the bar was set down.
All in all, we have to remember. IV is not supported by any 'no-nonimmigrant-left-behind' federal program.
If you cannot do recurring contributions, you can do it in one time payments.

so can I just ask ... is IV planning any campaigns at all in the near future (i.e. in the next 2-3 months) ?

We have asked members to interview if they feel anxious about the current state of the affairs. Can you guess how may responses we have recd till now? Is this not part of the effort/campaign? There are few members who will spend whole day discussing sending pizza or fight over tracker data. But we struggle to find sincere members who are ready to interview with the top media outlets. This indicates to us, either everybody is extremely comfortable with wherever we are and no one is feeling the pain, or just 2-3 of us feel the anxiety due the economic slow-down. If over 30 members can discuss for a period of 3-4 days about sending pizza, and the objective is to attract attention for our provisions, then is it not possible to achieve the same with the available media opportunities. Getting media opportunities is a difficult job. And its extremely frustrating to see lukewarm response to the action items and request for help from the members. Please understand that there are many aspects of our advocacy effort. We may be focusing on a specific aspect at a particular time, and its possible that you want us to work on something else. It doesn't mean that we are not working on a specific campaign right now. So I am baffled by your question of doing a campaign in next 2-3 months.
It is possible that next month we may see new bill from Sen. Grassley and we may have to re-adjust our effort to respond to such a bill. Political events are not predictable, but we have to respond to every developing situation. We are always very sincere in the community effort, so I request to please support the effort, even if you do not agree with it 100%. And please participate in the action items, because they are always part of planned activity and is not an abrupt absurd idea.
Campaigns are not based on a specific provisions, even when everyone of us sees it in that light. Provisions are the end product of every campaign. Ron has not made prediction specifically about India. Somebody asked Ron about filing I-485 with May 2004 PD without mentioning that (s)he was from India. So Ron probably assumed RoW. The OP later clarified that (s)he is from India and Ron hasn't replied to that. So let's wait for Ron to reply before getting excited about it.
If Ron meant EB3-I, he's probably expecting a July 2007 kind of bump, which allows a lot of people to file but results in very few approvals. This can be inferred from his statement that, "your priority date will become current, briefly, in a few months".
We EB3-I's are looking for any sign, just any sign of hope. But let's be cautious in disseminating such information further.

Thanks! That's helpful... from what you say, sounds like PD is still quite important. RD comes into the picture only after the PD becomes current. However, if a range of PD's are current, then they would sort those by RD and not by PD.
For eg, if they move the dates forward by a year, and Jan 04 and Jan 05 are both now current, a person with PD of Jan 05 but an earlier RD would still get processed prior to an application with PD Jan 04 and a later RD (according to the FIFO principle)...

One of my co-worker was in same boat. His desi employer revoked his I-140 when he took fulltime employement in 2005. He got his GC finally.

First, find a new job and check whether the job would be the one which you would like. Get H1B transfer and move to the next job.
If i were you, with a lame excuse tell the present employer that you want to move to a another job because there is nothing challenging to work on. I liked working with you and i hope i can join you sometimes later. Praise him a lot so that he feels he had been falsely praised. If he starts talking to you about the contract tell him you would report to DOL etc..
I paid for my H1B fees and i don't care for paying the fees if i can get a raise by changing employers. This is my 3rd job and i had paid the H1B fees except one part the employer has to pay. (i.e. fraud fee, etc..) the lawyers fee is not required to be paid by the employer.
Forget of $3K, change the job and try to get 20% higher salary elsewhere a place you like. Its easy to get a new job with better compensation.
About my experience, I was working with a big desi company and they gave me 0.25% raise the first year and 0.7% raise the third year. When asked as promised when are you going to apply for my green card. They replied not this year but maybe on the 4th or 5th year because i am not fit to be a engineer. I left the company and found a small firm. I asked them to match my present salary and work on my green card. They promised me. (I like and respect Japanese onwers, they respect and treat better). They increased my salary by $13K in 6 months.
