I have an approved H1B visa and was planing to start working for the new sponsor company 10/01/08. It turned out my current employer bought the company I was going to. My position is slightly different but in same line of business and industry. mY question is:
Do i need to file an h1b amendment for both position and company?

Before the first application gets to process, I left the company and joined another company. The GC which I am waiting for since then was filed by the second company. They filed it on EB3 eventhough I was eligible for EB2 for "easier processing". At that time both EB2 and EB3 were current. And it remained the same way till I got my labor approved the very same month it went into retrogression. Since then I am waiting.
By the way, my first company sold the labor they filed for me for $15K dollars to another guy. He got his GC in 2005 and just 2 months back he became an US Citizen.
That is a long story told short....

I do agree with some of your points. We could do with a marketing consultant for the website, etc
Many on core are working almost all their waking hours, and simply don't have time.
But you know what the funny thing is? No one is willing to donate for these items.
We are even $28,000 short for critical things like Advocacy days.
People couldn't even collect a few thousand dollars for advertising on a single website about IV.
We don't have a paid sales person or PR person.
Most people aren't aware of realities.

No reason to feel its beneath IV to ask its own members to donate...i say go ahead of that and stick posters in Indian stores asking for donation but thats just my opinion ;)

Value of a "person" will be known when he is gone. But the worthlessness of material thing gets realized when it actually comes. Character of a person is truly tested during trying times. May you reminisce about it later and wonder why didn't you do better

I have always lived with this thought..If i want to go live back in India, I dont need a GC, If i decide to stay here in the US, It does not matter when GC comes..as long as u have legal status that you can maintain ( I know may not be for everybody ..esp who are in the clutches of the consultants)...most of you guys can change to job of your choice and maintain status..Without a GC, i have done everything you can do with one..( Job change, House buying , what else?)...So while i know it is a comforting feeling to have a GC, dont let that drive you crazy...the system is as fair or as unfair as it can be, it is how u look at it..Just chill ..good things will happen. Wishing you all the very best

I am in new job and mid of negotiating with blood sucker desi employer not to revoke i140. I can not attend the advocacy days.
Anyway like Eb3retro I also lost my interest so changed job. Profile don't meet much with what written in i140, so who cares if GC rejected I will be heading to India.

Many people, including me, might be interested. I know there are plenty of suggestions flying around and here is my 2 cent, it may or may not make too much sense, but here it is.
We can rant about the difficulties of not getting a GC, make emotional pleas of our struggles all day, but nothing talks better than money. In the current scenario nothing will grab more attention if you can show how we contribute to the US govt and the US economy in monetary terms. Nothing else will get the attention of these lawmakers like money can. ;-)
Can we put out some numbers for the lawmakers, in terms of our contribution to federal & state taxes, social security, property taxes and overall economy by way of our purchasing power home, cars, appliances, vacations, etc (all the amount that you spend in the US) and multiply these numbers by the number of folks waiting to get GC or who have the GCs. I am sure when you add all this up it will be a significant number, which is bound to catch some attention. Assuming the majority of us make more than the average American, all these figures will definitely standout.
Also propose a one time fee of $10,000 to apply for GC right away. I am willing to pay this fee if USCIS can grant me a GC or provide us a way to stay and work legally in this country with no tie in to the employer. This could be a significant amount of revenue, especially when all lawmakers are looking to reduce the deficit and raise some income. As it is they are regularly increasing the visa fees to pay for some bill to the other like the 9/11 workers healthcare bill, etc. If a 100,000 folks(not sure how many are there in total) like us cough up $10,000 that could equal 1 billion. May seem small amount compare to the US deficit, but when you add up our total contribution it is significant. The above are my case updates. I just wanted to check one more thing. When i got my FP request the center on it was MSC. Has the same happened with anyone else.
The last LUD i had on my e-filed EAD was 6/5.
