How much clout does this congresswoman have? She seems to understand the entire scenario better than any american soul out there! It also seems like she has spent a lot of time on this and understands the system very well.
I guess it remains to be seen what kind of impact her letter will have on USCIS. Obviously, USCIS did something unlawful.

There are just too many fond memories to share in one post... but I do want to specially thank leo2606 who drove 70 miles to pick up myself, venkygct, vsraja and punjabi at the Dulles airport and then took us out for breakfast, then to the rally venue, then for lunch, finally to a hotel room we had booked for a quick shower, basically... like a shadow he was with us wherever we wanted to go! And... whenever we thanked him (and gdhiren who co-ordinated pickups/dropoffs for many others like the 4 of us) these guys, instead of saying something like "You are welcome", would profusely thank us for flying in!
Its people... like leo2606 and gdhiren.. and many others are the true strength of IV!

It was a wonderful experience for me and my wife to meet with the congressmen. Most of them were straightforward and would say whether they agree or disagree with you. The need to differentiate our cause and clearly communicate our agenda became very obvious in the meetings. We need to continuously reinforce the points.
IV did an excellent job organizing the meetings and made it so easy for people like us to participate and contribute to the cause.
From my own experience i can say that taking concrete steps reduces the anxiety of uncertainty, whatever maybe the eventual outcome. That in itself is a reason enough to act.
As i said earlier we need to continuously reinforce our points to the congressmen. Those who missed this opportunity to reduce their anxiety would definitely have more opportunities coming their way in the future.

I googled to find any cases similar to the one I have now, by no luck.
My wife was out of status for more than 6 months while she was on H1-b by not working. To put her back on status, my attorney advised to make her go out of the country and come back on H4 visa. Her status now is H4 and has maintained it since the last entry to US. I have maintained my H1-B status since 3 years and got paid for every day.
Is it possible, my I-485 is approved (primary applicant) and her I-485 denied (dependent) due to her prior out-of-status on H1-B? Her current status as mentioned in the I-485 forms is H4.
Please advice.
Thanks.

The following is from Hammond Law Firm. There is no cap for non-profit organizations.
The H-1b season is quickly getting closer. We now only have 6 weeks left before April 1. As you may recall, last year, all H-1b's were exhausted by May 26th. We are projecting that this year the cap will be reached in 2 weeks or less – perhaps as soon as ONE DAY! With that in mind, it is important to begin the preparation of any H-1b filings NOW! Our plan is to have all H-1b cap subject cases ready to be filed on March 30 for delivery at USCIS on April 2, 2007. April 1 falls on a Sunday and the USCIS has confirmed that the 2007 H-1b season begins Monday April 2.

Honestly I don't even see a point for these discussions, polls or predictions for EB3-I. The sooner we accept we are doomed the better. The only way out is to help ourselves but I don't think many EB3's are willing to do that.
I spoke to several in my office with earlier EB3 PD's (who might not even get GC's in the next 5-10 years !) and of course with EAD's and they have literally substituted EAD for a GC. They were once a part of IV (and some similar org's ?!) but now have completely lost hope and don't care. I tried to motivate them to join IV and support but they feel that IV does not cater to EB3's anymore. Sadly they are not even trying to port to EB2. They are just content with a job and EAD.
So, I am not really sure how many of us are actually willing to fight ?!
In fact it's even worse for people like me who are still waiting to file their I-485. Is it going to take us 5,10 or 20 years just to get an EAD ?!

I never saw anything like this it is far worse than the government municipality office. There is only one lady at the counter nearly 200 people waiting. She is doing things at her own pace. They were fighting over missing $10s, nepotism etc,is prevailing, they have an official line and an unofficial line. It looks like a shack than a consulate. Burger shack is better than India Consulate. After more than a month I am still waiting for my PP.

I didnt. I dont know if there is any number to call to find the status.
I just called the number on the online status and the lady I spoke to initiated an inquiry and gave me an inquiry confirmation number. I dont know if that is of any good.

Xela,
what is your PD?? I don't mean to be pessimistic regarding your application, but it seems that USCIS is processing old PDs 2003 and 2004 without looking at RD ( if it is within the published processing time or not). so if you have a PD of 2004 or older, don't worry about your RD and they will touch yours soon, assuming I-140 already approved. but if you have a PD newer than 2004, it might be a while before they get to those even if your RD is before 06/08/07 (published)
Also regarding the service request. I did a SR back in February to get an update of my case and they asked me to wait 45 days to hear something. I called again today ( 60 days later) and it seems that SR I did disapeared ( I even have a reference #). Customer Service rep said they can start a new SR but not sure if it is gonna do anything. they will get to the application when they can. and right now they are precessing 2003 and 2004.
Hope this helps.
I had called them last week and was told the ususal spiel about my processing time not being current. But the lady also slipped with some piece of info that I did not have before: The processing dates are updated every 2 weeks....we do not see that online. While I am not sure that is true, I still figured hey let's call again and see. So yesterday the guy on the phone told me that I am outside their processing times and that he will put in a service request to make sure they will take care of my application....and my RD is July 2nd.....so their might be some truth about them internally updating processing times.....maybe

I met lots of people, I remember a lot of names, but how can I write down all the names, it will be a long list. Oh forgot, I met my wife too there:)
It was fun to meet so many people, its amazing, you read threads, you see IV handles and you try to be imaginative on who that person would be, but you just can't put a face behind the IV handle. Then you get to meet them in person and you say my name is this and my name is that and then we look surprised, who.. and then the question comes, whats your IV handle. Then we talk as we have known each other for years. We all fight for the same cause, we all have compelling stories very personal, very painful, the never ending wait for getting a green card. Some of them are in with us even though they have crossed the hurdle of getting a green card, because they believe in our cause, they don't want anyone to go through the pain all of us are going through. Hats off to all.. the train has left the station now, we have one voice, IMMIGRATION VOICE!!!!
