Based on the trend of the signups till now and our need for resources to make sure we push hard for our provisions, we have a target of 1000 signups in one month. Some of these signups will also be more than 20 ($100 and $50). This is a achieveable target and will keep us focussed on the lobbying effort and devote resources to go all out in the coming months. Hello!
My wife currently has a H4 stamped in her passport. She is India right now and is planning to travel in June 2007.
Now her H1 will most likely be approved. Does this mean she has to go for stamping her H1 VISA or can she travel on her H4 (valid till 2009)? Is it required to carry the approved I-797 for her H1?

Depending on how my training goes, I should know in 3 months if I am capable of doing the half marathon in 2009. When does the registration end?
One of my close friends is considering running the DC 10 miler with me. She never ran or walked a race before. Hopefully she will decide to atleast walk before the end of the day. That will be good for both of us
I partnered with my aunt to walk the SF 5K as well. now I really need to partner with someone who can run the Houston 1/2 marathon with me.

I had discussion with Mr.Gotcher about this issue. He said, AILA is collecting information on this matter and they are pursuing with Altanta center. But he does not believe or expect any positive outcome. As said earlier he insist to send a formal complaint with OIG and offered his time/help. As its affecting large group of people he refused to accept any fee. I offered we are ready to cover any expense which he might incurr, but seems like it would be very less and he offered free service. Mr.Gotcher will draft a letter in a week time. What we need now - lot support and signature. We do not need to provide any case number. so I dont believe there would be any consequence. So guys please come forward. Spread this news as much as possible and get enough support. Help yourself and get out of this mess.

I just learned about this initiative today and immediately joined. I think it is a great way to pursue our goals and this iniative for each member to invite atleast one or more others to join the community is a step in the right direction. Keep up the good work Neelu! It's my turn to bring awareness of this effort to some of my other friends who are in the same quagmire.

no i will call them on thursday as i will be busy till then......what did u mean by "photos coming out black when scanned by their scanner".....was there anything we are supposed to do to avoid that?....did u get any update on ur application?after how many days of receipt is it supposed to be in their system?

I went to the DC rally anyway...
I meet new friends but cant remember all their unusual names (FBI name check problem :D, just kidding) ...
pose for a picture in front of the US Capitol...
see the White House live!!!...
got inside the US congress buildings (was little embarassed, wearing jeans during lobbying :cool:)...
see old-time friends in DC and have lunch at Chipotle near Tysons Corner mall...
watch some drivers get angry due to the traffic caused by the parade (huh!)...
lost some carbs due to walking, ...
saw nice gals jogging on the streets of DC at the parade route...
5 hours sitting down in the airplane from CA to DC, 5 hours again from DC to CA...
LASTLY, HAPPY JUST BEING THERE FOR THE IV Cause...
P.S. they have good food inside the US congress cafeteria...

I have a question regarding an appeal I did a year ago for a rejected LC.
I have an approved LC and I-140 on an entry level position (EB3) with my company. after I got a promotion to a senior position that requires a masters degree but with a smilar job description but more senior and supervisory responsabilities with the same company. after promotion, I filed for a new LC (EB2) but it got rejected because DOL thinks it is the same position as the already approved LC. my company and I wrote a letter as an appeal on Sep 2006 within 30 days from rejection of LC to BALCA explaining that new position requires a masters degree and it is a senior position with more supervisory duties. as of today, almost a year later, we haven't heard anything regarding DOL (BALCA) decision on my appeal. is anybody in the same situation?? what should I do next?? also I read somewhere that DOl might revoke the already approved LC EB3 after I filed a second LC for EB2 with the same employer. can DOL revoke the first LC EB3 after I have an approved I-140?? please help. Thanks for your support Needhelp! I really hope you can come walk the 5k at the Houston event. As I said before, the 5K is a 45 min walk at a moderate pace. And like Santb1975 said, you can reach a goal of 5K in 6-8 weeks.

Greater availability of EB immigrant visas: On October 17th, the President signed P.L. 106-313. Title I of this law is known as the "American Competitiveness in the Twenty-first Century Act of 2000" and contains amendments to the INA regarding EB immigrant visas.
In fiscal years 1999 and 2000, due in part to the per-country limits, the annual limit for EB immigrant visas was not reached. P.L. 106-313 makes the following changes in an attempt to rectify the situation with regard to per-country limits:
Section 106 recaptures those EB visa numbers that were available but not used in fiscal years 1999 and 2000, creating a "pool" of approximately 130,000 numbers. These numbers could be made available to applicants in the EB1, EB2 and EB3 preference categories beginning in fiscal year 2001.
Section 104 removes the per-country limit in instances where the overall applicant demand for EB visas is less than the numbers available without regard to those limits. This determination will be made quarterly, based on a comparison of the overall demand versus the available numbers. If the total number of available EB visas is greater than the number of qualified applicants who may otherwise be issued such visas (during the same period), the per-country limitations on EB visas will be lifted for the remainder of that quarter.

^^^ Very well said...Right on target. Also I would add to 'learn the ropes' we (as in volunteers) can take up the I485 initiative and work towards its success. That will certainly give us valuable exposure to build long term relationships with lawmakers.

How many of you EB3 India folks who are complaining actually went to Washingtno DC last month for IV Advocacy event?
I hear it was not even 250 people. If you take out all EB2 people, so few EB3 people. This means EB3 people do not really want to do anything but after every visa bulletin come to the site and rant.
We in EB2 do not have much to worry. Our dates will move fast. But you EB3 had a chance last month and you blew it by not doing anything. So stop complaining.
