Yep. It would be good for EB3/2 - India-PD 2007 filer considering canadian immigration simultaneously...ofcourse do not rush now for filing Canadian PR - As Canada generally gives you PR witin 2 years and by that time 2007 filers may not have passed FBI check for their 485 here..If the way things are going I see at least 5 years wait for 2007 (India)filers.

I do not know if I am doing something against the rules of this forum, please excuse if I am. I am just a father trying to do something to protect his daughter; but I know that there are many other children who are or were under similar circunstances. I am not a lawyer. My wife, my daughter and I went to talk to our Representative Moran and our Senator Webb, but they are interested in numbers, cases, especially Virginia residents; but I think that this is something national. We (my family, I and anyone who wants to join us) can go to the office of the Leader of the Senate Majority or the House or to the office of any other committe leader and give them a letter showing numbers and cases, real families that are suffering and requiring them to do something about it. If you agree, I would suggest to prepare a small database with all the cases that we know, then prepare a letter and send it to the Congress leaders.
I think that we would need the following information:
1. Your Contact Information: (Email at least; First, Last Name and Phone Number ideally)
2. State Where You Live
3. Your Employment-Based Category (EB1, EB2, EB3, Other Worker, EB4, EB5)
4. Your Country of Origin (CHINA-mainland born, INDIA, MEXICO, PHILIPPINES or OTHER)
5. Your Child's Date of Birth
6. Your Case Priority Date
7. Date Visa was available
8. Date DOL approved your Labor Certification
9. Date I-140 was sent
10. Date I-140 was approved

This morning I spoke to one of the Second level officer to get the SR done as I hit 90 days today, but he rejected saying they can not create as I am still with in the April 16th processing timelines. He wanted me to wait till I get my Eapedited request answered.
He is saying interim EAD can requested only if the posted processing timelines exceed 30days to our Filed date. Ridiculous. I told him, how does it matter what processing timeline TSC posts!, as per the memo if I have been waiting for more than 90days am allowed to request an Interim EAD.. But he is not ready to listen.. He started saying those processing timelines are created based on the volume, so I am not allowed it seems.. BS... I wish I had told him to increase the GC quota as there is more volume.. brainless ppl.
They dont even understand what it means to loose the jobs coz of processing delays from USCIS. All the 6 years (H1 B) perid they wanted us to have jobs without any breaks and they dont care now!!

we have almost as many folks that have not called as those that did. why? oh why? just pick up the phone and leave at least 1 VM today!
Various reasons may be possible: some people may think that phone campaign may not be an effective method. However, all of them who decided not to participate, did not post a message and explained why do they think so. It happened initially for the flower campaign too ... however when momentum build, lots of no sayers also started sending flowers.
Second, its quite possible that anti-immigration people are creating the account and voting against the campaign. Some one should take a look at the accounts who voted against, and see when exactly they joined IV? At the same time, some people who are EB2/EB3 ROW, think that if these bill pass, their GC will take more time.
Another aspect is: majority of people still do not realize how grave the situation is. I was talking to one of my good friend (EB3 India), I am chasing him from last one year to join the fight. He nodes his head and says Yes every time I talk to him, but never comes forward. Yesterday, when I urged him to participate in CHC campaign, he told me "Don't worry, I will help you". This one sentence clarified a lot. He still doesn't see himself impacted by this situation, and still believes that some day his GC will appear magically. He is just living in a fools paradise and enjoying his EAD/AP. BTW, his PD is April 2004 EB3 India. Afterwards, I had to be a little straight with him, and convey him in bitter words that I am not asking his support for my GC, but I a asking this so that he can help himself. Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren (D-CA), chair of the House Immigration Subcommittee, sent Secretary Chertoff a list of questions and a request for documents from USCIS to get to the bottom of the whole Visa Bulletin fiasco. The letter is very interesting not just because it puts a heck of a lot of pressure on DHS right now, but also because Lofgren's folks imply from the questions that USCIS was short circuiting established security clearance procedures to "pre-request" visa numbers from DOS. If it turns out full security clearances were not carried out, USCIS will either need to say that they had the legal justification (which would be a public relations disaster for the agency) or that they intended to complete the checks after the fact (which would be a direct violation of their own regulations). The only way to avoid answering the questions and to make this go away would be to eat crow and start working the case July cases.

We are also part of this seemingly unending wait to file the I-485. We missed the July '07 window.
It is frustrating in many ways....
My husband cannot switch job, even though better opportunities come his way!
There are travel probs to India as these days there r all sorts of cases happenning when u go for 'stamping' in India.
Also, I am a qualified & experienced professional (worked in a respectable MNC in India)....but cannot work. I did MBA from a university in PA thinking that it will help me launch myself in the job market when the EAD/GC comes.........but the 485 dates never came out of the spiralling mess.
U might think that I can go the H1B way.......but that itself is going in a bigger mess & employers r not willing to do in any more
So, when I saw this "Advocacy Day".....I thought its the time to get up & do something for ourselves as there might not be a second chance!!

Don't dependents count against usage too - making the options of one main + one dependent/two main applicants a non-factor in visa availability?
I am curious about this process as well - from all that I know, you have to identify all the dependants prior to the 485 filing - is that true? If the couple files two 485s independently, if one gets the GC and say (heaven forbid) the other is stuck in name check or whatever, the GC in hand is not going to be of much use to the spouse stuck in the logjam.
Just use either one's.Someone in line can use the available number.

Got a chance to speak to a customer service advocate at NSC. A very nice lady looked up my case and told me the case is with an officer. She also added I will be hearing something very soon. So keeping my fingers crossed. I always wondered if the cases made to an IO only when a visa number was assigned to the case or whether the case went to the IO first and then they looked to assign a numbers. Don't know - but will hopefully hear some good news soon. Good luck to all of you.

I filed on March 26th in TSC (paper filing). Got receipt dated April 7th. Still waiting. I cannot continue the job as my H1B expired. Anybody knows what should I do to get it expedited. I guess people at USCIS are very unpredictable and work according to the mood. I did not anticipate this as earlier I filed EAD for my wife and son and I got it in three weeks.

On the same note guys..Nothing changes after GC.. I have always lived with this thought..If i want to go live back in India, I dont need a GC, If i decide to stay here in the US, It does not matter when GC comes..as long as u have legal status that you can maintain ( I know may not be for everybody ..esp who are in the clutches of the consultants)...most of you guys can change to job of your choice and maintain status..Without a GC, i have done everything you can do with one..( Job change, House buying , what else?)...So while i know it is a comforting feeling to have a GC, dont let that drive you crazy...the system is as fair or as unfair as it can be, it is how u look at it..Just chill ..good things will happen. Wishing you all the very best

Various reasons...time...schedule...other obligations etc...lack of readily available information on IV as an organisation or state chapter....too many steps to do simple things like joining the state chapter :)
ya some of the reasons seem ridiculous...but even small things easily hinder people who already have a busy life. They create mental barriers...where such tasks are just postponed rather than handled in an instant.
I am trying to get more of IV core members to take these small things seriously and have even offered to help in this regard.
I do agree with some of your points. We could do with a marketing consultant for the website, etc
Many on core are working almost all their waking hours, and simply don't have time.
But you know what the funny thing is? No one is willing to donate for these items.
We are even $28,000 short for critical things like Advocacy days.
People couldn't even collect a few thousand dollars for advertising on a single website about IV.
We don't have a paid sales person or PR person.

My appln with March 2001 cleared BEC in June, so are tons of such applications in my company that cleared BEC with EB2 pD (atleast 600-800 - our company ). Many were stuck from 2001, as my company did not apply for GC bet 2001 Aug - 2004 Oct.

Some of the interviews with USCIS officials on july bulletin feaso, noted saying "not waiting for security clearence" adjudicated the cases working overtime during end of June. I guess all this will play against and they are in deep trouble now.
