I sent my passport with all the documents and $40 FEE + $20 EXPRESS MAIL to houston, TX
but they sent me my passport back to me, after 1 month but it wasnt renewed. They said that I have filled the wrong application but I can't find any other application that relates to my passport on their website.
MY passport was issued in INDIA for 5 yrs validity and I didn't know it was expired a year back so they also asked me notarise my application. they also said that you have not sent correct fee.
Please anyone can help me out here about which application should I send to renew my 5 yrs passport and how much is the FEE and all other necessary documents......

Whatever you earn from Trading is taxable as your earned income. On the flip side if you ve made losses there is a provision for some tax deduction as well . Contact a good Tax consultant

my notice date is sep 26, 07. It's a mixed feeling...the wait has killed the enthu, but at the same time, I feel good that no more visa, AP, EAD extensions, and feel that I have wings of freedom to pick up a job i like, place i like, not bound by CIS rules regarding employment, etc...

Now that the amendmendts from Senate side have been defeated, what is the latest from House? Do we keep calling CHC members or we have another plan of action? I think the front page needs to be updated.

Oh !! I see then to approve for a 2001/2002/2003 485 case , every month USICS needs to make the VB current on 15 and take back to on 30 ....
Not necessarily that they have to make it current as the retrogression kicked in only @ 2005 Jan, so none with PD 2005 or later has their petition pending at this time at least in EB2/3 category. Also in 2004 there was not PERM and folks filed for Labor, except in certain states like Iowa, etc... Were waiting for labors somewhere between 6-10 months minimum. Mine took more than 2 years. So the I-485 petition pending, latest PD most likely could have PD�s up to June/July 2004 for EB2/3 category. So if they set the cutoff date Dec 2003 or Jan/Jun 2004 they will have sufficient petitions that are already processed and ready for approval, If they do not want to loose the visa numbers. I don�t understand the logic behind the VB, that visa availability showing current for all categories.. Had they bumped the Cut-Off date by 6 months at a time for each month or even a year, this might not have been so bad.

Knowing that there are very limited H-1B available per year, do you think this situation is FAIR for the second person or his sponsor company?
Does “first-come-first-serve” or “processing based on date application received” ring a bell? And if second person’s application is not processed, that doesn’t mean that he is not the “best and brightest”, it simply means the quota finished. So why blame others who were ahead in the line and whose applications were processed. Acting like a frog will not make any of us any more human.
The problem is the way we are or would be affected due of some them are not so transparent immigration practices which are mainly from India.
Let see this case, a company sponsor a large number of H-1B to individuals that does not have real job offer, but look for real jobs after they get approved, while a second person does have a job offer but cannot get it because the H-1B quota was reached very early.
If more people on H1 come from India/China and not from Timbaktu, that is because India and China has 1/3 of the world population. It means 1 in every 3rd person walking on this planet is from India or China. If people from India and China consume more H1s and if there is only handful of people coming from Timbaktu, then why complain about it. Send in applications ahead of time because as per the rule, which I am sure no one on this forum wrote, the processing is done in the order of priority of when the application is received. And that is what all the companies are doing, beating the opponent in placing application from their company first.
One more thing, if the immigration bill containing green card reform would have passed last year, H1 numbers would have no t exhausted on day 1. Now please don’t blame H1s from India for the immigration bill not passing last year.
You asked what is fair, let me ask the same question, if there is some commonality between companies and type of business consuming more H1s, does it mean that every H1 should be banned from working for that type of business? Its like saying, if 98% of the wealth on this planet is with 0.1% people then kill those 0.1% people so that their wealth could be equally distributed amonst the other 99%. Is that your proposal? Is that fair?
I have never mention to be in favor or against for any proposed bill. The apparently abuse of the system is what causing all this mess, which are the real more reasons to the anti-immigrant, but not my comments or your comments. For now it look like we will be facing a dilemma, not to be able to apply for the H-1B because the quota is reached before we can accept a job offer, or face stricter and harder rules that probably will make the application almost impossible. I only hope the H-1B can be regulated without impacting us negatively.

This survey intends to understand the needs of our membership for this provision and collect grassroots information.
The fact is we have a dedicated group of volunteers (and we need more) who have been trying their best to spread the message about this initiative so that a strong grass-roots support can be created leading up to launch of the public action items. So far we have around 1100 people who have responded. Based on quick calculations carried out using PERM data, it is estimated that there are at least 60K-70K EB applicants waiting to file I-485/EAD/AP (this is a very conservative estimate..the actual number could be much more). Grass-roots initiatives require time and patience and we request maximum number of impacted folks to participate actively.

We really need help and support from IV'ans like you to make this initiative successful. We really need to raise our targeted funds and meet the goals of Team IV for this year.

- I don't go there at all, even when I am hungry and I will tell my bad food experience to my friends - either convince them not to go there or let them decide on their choice.
Reasonable? Logical? Practical?

Demanding/Questioning about democratic principles while not understanding the very basis of democracy - PARTICIPATION.

I don't like what IV has done, nor what it is doing currently, I don't believe in anything and therefore will not participate, volunteer or contribute - BUT, I still come to IV, surf the threads, get the information I need, complain about undemocratic ways of the IV while having never made an attempt to find out more details, yet, coming on to the forums to post about why I cannot participate, volunteer and contribute. Demanding/Questioning about democratic principles while not understanding the very basis of democracy - PARTICIPATION.
Reasonable? Logical? Practical? Or Unreasonable? Illogical? Impractical? - I would say second choice.
What do you as a reasonable, logical and practical person think?

I have a couple of questions, pl let know if you have valid info.
Situation: My spouse came to US on H4 and then got converted to H1.Due to delay in pay and not a strong case, she is not willing to go for H1 visa stamping next time when she goes to India. She wasnts to go for H4 visa stamping instead.
1. Is it better to convert to H4 here and then leave for India? We feel that if it would take time to convert to H4, then instead of waiting she can work till the last day here and then quit and leave(because she wants to leave ASAP). Also changing from H1 to H4 here means submitting paystubs and other documents and more scrutiny. I think in Chennai consulate there will be less questions if applying for H4. Any thoughts, pl help?
2. If applying for H4 in Chennai, will they ask for paystubs from her previous H1 status? They shouldnt since she is applying for H4, but I still wanted to know. If they ask why do you want to change back to H4, what is the best answer?
3. Travelling on an expired visa from East coast to Chennai. If there is no time to get transit visa to travel thru Europe, which is the shortest route/best airlines to get to Chennai quickest from say, Atlanta? Pl help

Here's a quick summary before the InfoPass recap:
EAD e-filed: May 27th
Receipt notices received: 1st week of June
FP done: June 19th
Card production ordered LUD: June 28th
Other soft LUDs: July 25th, July 27th
Still waiting...
InfoPass: This morning...07/28/08
Per the guy at the InfoPass counter, the FP report was received on July 24th (which probably explains the July 25th LUD). He said EAD will not be printed or sent out before FP check is complete. In 2007, they did not run FP checks to issue the first EAD after July fiasco.
So could this explain the delay that folks here are seeing? FP Code 2 was done for EAD, so not sure why this should take so long :mad: Maybe I am mistaken, but I thought that only FP Code 3 that's done for I-485 can take a long, long time. Can someone post info on EAD FP checks?

02/01/2007 21/30 p.m.: Senate Passed Immigration Reform Bill Today
The Senate passed today Fair Minimum Wage Act, H.R. 2 today. The House passed this bill, H.R. 2 and the Senate debated the bill for the past several days. In the process, hundreds of amendments had been introduced on the Senate floor. The Senate floor then agreed to a lot of these amendments. One of these amendments which the Senate had agreed to and passed as Division B of the H.R. 2 is the Immigration Reform bill.
The immigration reform bill was introduced by Senator John Kerry and agreed to by the floor unanimously. The immigration reform bill that the Senate passed today covers a lot of the provisions which were part of the Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act of 2006 which the Senate passed last year and failed in the House.
We will analyze the bill and report it step by step for the next several days. Please stay tuned to this website.

Thanks, and i have. But there seems to be bugs in the tracker. For eg the filtering doesn seem to work and the page looks broken :confused: Would it be possible that these are fixed soon ? Great idea by the way.
